Roberto Prado is the kind of composer who can hear a samba groove hiding inside a string quartet and coax it into the spotlight. This ear for unlikely pairings came alive when, as a kid in Brazil, he devoured João Gilberto one day and John Williams the next. This fascination carried him from São Paulo State University (UNESP) to Berklee College of Music, where he graduated summa cum laude in Film & Game Scoring and Electronic Production & Design.
Now based in Los Angeles, Roberto is a composing partner at Tin Man Music, the studio led by Emmy‑nominated composer Michael Kramer. He helps craft scores for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, The Ghost & Molly McGee, A Tale Dark & Grimm, Ninjago, and themed‑entertainment experiences that stretch from cinemas to parks. Away from the screen, his single “King’s Gambit” has topped 10 million streams and powered everything from America’s Got Talent to Celebrity Apprentice Australia. Whether he’s bending a modular synth or bowing a cavaquinho, Roberto’s mission is to smuggle a hint of São Paulo soul into everything he scores—and leave listeners humming a groove they can’t quite place but never want to lose.
